Page 45 Comicbook Of The Month November 2025

Beauty, peace and wonder in a woodland within reach of us all.

Though it may be hidden, it can be found, the earlier in the day the better.

And, to be honest, the more sequestered, the better!

Although differing in details, I am astonished that this feels so precisely like my own journey did: the sheer thrill of discovery and the awe with what I found, luring me further and further afield in search of more.

I had, for example, no idea that roaming our countryside almost invisibly and practically everywhere are so many deer, as they are here. I mean, five years ago a Muntjac sneaked its sleek diminutive way into my back garden, and I live in West Brigford! So that was astonished morning and a half...

Then there’s the birdsong, the contact calls and alarms, so witty represented here as to resonate across the page with precisely the same impact. And the weather! I love the rain – ripples on rivers and ponds – and its ever so lush here. Trees, roots, thickets, old stone walls all make me grin my stupid head off.

I’ll be honest with you, though: my breath held, I was waiting for this to disappoint me in some way, with something saccharine or off-key in one wonky way or another, and it doesn’t. It doesn’t do that.

It’s perfect, for any age – especially, I’d suggest, as a Christmas present.
