From the creatos of the exceptional DIE series which you'll find reviewed in the Comics Laureate Recommended Reading List.

"Everyone you rely on.
"Everyone you love.
"Everyone will leave you."

And everyone does - almost everyone. Certainly all the adults - well, almost all of them. They just... disappear, leaving the two barely-even-friends to fend for themselves on the suburban streets, avoiding the foraging feral band of boys. Oh,and the two otherworldly giants, one flaming gold from molten red, the other a sort of pollen-studded green.

Optimism, cynicism, caution and faith; provision, sacrifice, love. It's a much more direct story than is customary from Gillen – please don’t expect convoluted plottage from this - and all the more refreshing from that. It’s told lyrically, with heart, and eerie art to evoke the uncanny from Hans.

The publisher writes:

"We Called Them Giants is a story of communication across a chasm at the end of the world. Lori wakes to find the streets empty. Everyone has gone. Or at least, nearly everyone. She's thrown into a world where she has to scrape by in the ruins of civilization, nearly starving, hiding from gangs when… They arrive. The award-winning team behind dark fantasy smash Die release their first standalone original graphic novel."
