Chic, slick and retro-futuristist, 1949 by Dustin Weaver slices between two time periods as our 'visiting' detective struggles to solve a string of murders that will only make sense from her singular prespective.

Have I been cryptic enough there?

Exquisite draughtsmanship (and colouring when required) with strong notes of Howard Chaykin throughout, v early Frank Miller (black and white chase sequence) and Barry-Winsdor-Smith (blue-hued double-page spread, right down to the inking behind her knee). I loved the white washing draped across the space between the tenement buildings, contrasting with the bricks so sharply textured that the minded me once more of Miller circa SIN CITY and, of course, Eisner, given the environment.
